One of the Library's main objectives is to provide active support for academia. At present, all license fees are waived for academic institutions in a member state of the European Community, or a member of staff or student of such an institution, who can therefore access data from the Library for reprographics and output costs only. The Library is able to further extend this support through its 'Academic Fund' which can be utilised to cover these running costs. At present the Library is able to provide a limited subsidy to each institution per year dependant on fund activity.
